Recently shortlisted for this years BBC New Comedy Award, Joseph Parsons is a West Country comedian now living in London. Parsons’ high energy brand of comedy from his unique perspective as a gay man has gained acclaim from some of the biggest critics in the UK, tackling subjects such as homophobia in sport, body image and anxiety.

His 2022 debut Edinburgh Fringe show “Equaliser” impressed with his friendly on stage personality and clear musical talent. In a 4 star review in Culture Fix, the show was described as “a powerhouse high-energy set”.

His growing online portfolio of sketches and stand up clips has gained him an audience online with over 13.6k followers on TikTok and over 1 million views.

Radio and podcasts

Parsons has recently featured on the BBC’s LGBT Sport Podcast where he discussed his experiences as a gay sports fan and his debut show ‘Equaliser’.

His appearances as a guest on Talksport discussing homophobia and Bristol City’s match against Man City were particularly popular.

He also featured on a live episode of the number 1 LGBT podcast in the UK,  A Gay and a Non Gay.  In 2022, Parsons started his own podcast called the Big Sport Pod which has featured top comedians, athletes and journalists such as Huge Davies and Keegan Hirst.
